HSEEP – Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program
HSEEP is the Department of Homeland Security’s national exercise and evaluation program.  This programs ensures that common terminology and principles are applied to planning, conducting and evaluating disaster exercises.

ICS – Incident Command System
A command system structure used during emergency response whether large or small.  ICS ensures that common practices and language are used, especially when more than one response agency is involved

NIMS – National Incident Management System
A national standard developed by the Department of Homeland Security to be used across the country by response agencies involved in an emergency, ICS is a function of the National Incident Management System

TTX – Table Top Exercise
Discussion based exercise that tests emergency planning and collaboration between agencies
